Please don't get me wrong. The computer is a wonderful invention. It has improved our lives greatly. But let's be honest, the reasons why people get computers, when they have no idea how to use them, is ridiculous. The computer isn't the universal panacea that some people claim. It isn't always the ultimate in convenience either. Sometimes, old technologies are still preferred, but some people don't want to admit it.

theres a diffrence between a computer and the internet- meeting people can only be done via the internet NOT by a computer alone.

the main purpose of a computer is conveniance- saves students time when writing essays, creates systems to calculate payments for businesses etc.

The internet is the ultimate freedom of information. Unlike the media which is all cencsored and the newspapers laoded with properganda- the internet is far less biased.

Jackie is correct, the convenience of paper makes it preferential - and if you want to keep a story as evidence you can cut it out, or keep as a book.

The paper industry keeps forests growing and trees take in pollution from the air. The CO2 taken in by trees stays in the wood or paper. Jackie is talking about people of his generation, and he is correct that very few of them use their computer if they buy one (cos they see an advert extolling its values on QVC)
