and do they accept dollars in all the stores or do you have to do the money exchange??

Well first off, my parents blushed at your compliments and send their thanks. :) So as far as friendships go- My family and I have traveled there for years and we've been fortunate to form some strong friendships with some of the people that we've met along the way. We've been blessed by their hospitality and friendship. It's muy cool. :)
Lastly American money in Mexico is easily traded in the Playa Del Carmen area just be careful about the exchange rate they offer. Some rates are quite bad.

Did we ever! You've got to get to Mexico at some point. It's amazing. There's loads of fun things to do but if you're not up for it - you can always just lie by the pool or the sea and let the world go by.
