John Fahey - it is bad he has passed away. thank goodness there is recorded music.

the first john fahey song i ever heard. i want it to be the song i drift away to. it is transcendental, it breaks every mould. he is the lizst of the 6 string orchestra. more powerful than chopin. more sensitive than debussy. a master composer and performer.

He is posed normally. Some idiot at Vanguard Records reversed the photo ( reversing the negative, most likely)., See the fingerpicks, the pickguard, etc. ? A simple enough error in the days of photo negatives, but ... COME ON!!! It's a GUITAR record!! Clearly whoever had the job setting up the cover layout didn't know enough about a guitar to get it right.

This picture is peculiar because John is posing with his guitar as if he were left-handed, which most who are familiar with him know that he was right-handed. Great pic despite it though!

A masterpiece. The Johann Sebastian Bach of the Mississippi Delta.
At last it is finally on the web. Although Fahey never liked this performance, in my opinion it is his ultimate. Be sure to listen to the Charley Patton original, Jesu is a Dying Bed Maker, which inspired it.
