  • I have a question for you Donnie. What do you do to condition your shins? I see a lot of stuff on-line, but what is the correct way to condition them? I don't want to end up old with fuck up legs or shins that cannot walk any more, and I don't want to break a shin while I fighting. I want YOUR suggestions!

  • That is a good question D0wn82. I do a number of small things, no tree kicking.... mostly working the heavy bag and kicking a heavy sand filled we have at the gym. There are some other things you can do at home, to desensitize the nerves. I'll put together a short video in the next week that covers shin conditioning, along with a routine for you guys.

  • Imagine the shock of being kicked repeatedly in the ribs and head by the guy's friends while you're on the ground trying to apply an armbar at a house-party or a bar.

  • @whotookdonnierules i see some muay thai matches where kicker breaks the shin witha crack and the defender doesnt always brace. why does that kind of fracture happen?

  • @erthdirt1 Imagine the shock of trying to throw punches while being dragged to the ground by the guy's friends...

  • at 1:55 what if your opponent does a turning back fist ?

  • See if this works for you. In the same situation, I would throw a left vertial elbow(Thah-mah-laa) to block the guy's right horizontal(diagonal) elbow. I can at least block it, if not hit the guy with mine. Then follow through with my own right downward elbow(wiang sawg). Alternatively, I can throw my right cross elbow('joop sawg' in Thai), which pushes the guy's right elbow down and makes space for my left elbow (wiang sawg) to hit his head.

  • TAB!

  • @majorpun we dont throw elbows as much cus when u throw an elbow there is a big danger for recieving one so elbows are rare and yes used for finishers when u kno he wont be ready to strike back etc.

  • @Ronnock then take judo

  • I haven't studied Muay Thai, but is a Muay Thai elbow strike common enough for it to be used as a primary strike against a fully erect opponent?

Maybe if someone's elbow strike is fast enough, but it seems more like a finishing move if your opponent is in a good position (for you to hit him that is).

What would seem more practical is a defensive move that can be executed if one has already been struck and is trying to avoid being knocked out...

Please correct me if I'm wrong!
