  • hey whats the SCSI external you used with this unit? I have the same model but dont know what i can use with the SCSI option..thanks!

  • Hi,

It's 44MB Bernoulli drive - the forerunner of the Zip drives

It was a surprise as the FZ20m can only take Apple SCSI drives in 20MB, 40MB and 80MB. They have to be Apple too as I had a 40MB Connor drive it wouldn't talk too!

    Cheers

    Chris

  • love these old machines

  • i have the same, piece of equipment the casio fz-20 i producer gave it to me as a gift but the only problem is i don't know how to work it with out a manual,i been to ebay to see if i could find it but there's no results for it. my question to you since you have this digital sampler how can i get the manual i love digital sampler machines i dont really like computer sampler software to me the machines are better and it last longer.

  • i have an fz-1 but its just a bit big and heavy for my live set up if anybody fancys a synth swap id be happy to let it go im just after something smaller really,im open to any offers ??????????

  • I, too have the FZ-1 KB. Since I don't have the savvy on electronics, will the SCSI eliminate the 3.5 floppy and if so, how is it installed? What is required, material wise to install?

  • I want an FZ-1 so bad! I remember when it was considered state of the art. I like the rack mounted unit.

  • Yep I've been doing that for years. Not fast but better than nothing.

  • You know that you can transfer samples to the FZ1 from your PC through a midi cable?

That's what I do, but it aint fast.

    Google FZdump.

  • I've tried a 150MB and it didn't work. Only the 44MB Bernoulli seems to work but that's still a lot of samples plus you can swap the disks easier than a hard drive :)

  • btw, do the bigger, later 90/150/230 MB bernoulli drives work? i would be in heaven to get the old beast more easily useable

  • years i have been trying to get to the bottom of fz hard drive... mac hd80 sc is too old. whats the biggest anyone has managed to work. i am tempted to try MCDISK-2 from scsiforsamplers website, think it might work. i have a 2-300 disk custom library to share plus i would kill to have casio's and user's shareware libraries without the hassle. untold people have sought this solution and given up alone and depressed - can anyone help me break these chains ;) FZ forever! (got an FZ-20m myself) best
