Disabling the ink level detection is not reversable is it?! please advise.

It is reversible... when you insert an original Canon ink cartridge, the chip should automatically reset the ink level detection. Otherwise, just untick "Ink Level Detection On/Off" when your printing dialogue box pops up. :)
