Well, sex is sex. It's still a sin.

Yes, it is, because it is against the wedding vows. At the altar, the husband and wife promised to give themselves fully to one another. Contraception is a way of 'holding back' your fertility, and thus damages the union of husband and wife.
Obviously, many Catholics today do not know or understand this, but prior to the 1920s, ALL Christian churches taught this. Contraception is gravely wrong.

@Adush21 there's no such thing as a mortal sin.

@temp911Luke Mother Theresa is not an authority on 'souls'. She oversaw the unnecessary death of thousands of people that she could have done far more to help, were she not so faithful in her 'loving god'. Someone who supervised 'houses of dying' should not be granted authority to speak about whether or not an abortion is murder, let alone preventing pregnancy through contraception.
You illustrate your ignorance by claiming that contraception is murder.

@SzymonAdam Contraception is in fact an act of ABORTION. "The Eternal Father sends each life with reason. The spirit of life is breathed into that body at the moment of conception. At the moment of conception the soul is united to the body. Though it grows from a small seed, it is living and must not be destroyed! It is murder My children, to destroy the seed. " Our Lady, December 27, 1975
