Relocated Gulf Pelicans "Enjoying" Texas

July 19, 2010—Some Louisiana pelicans, oiled by the Gulf of Mexico spill, have been cleaned and relocated to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Texas, where they "really seemed to be enjoying themselves."

@Calidris0 It's all about making BP look good so people will buy stocks and everything is honky dory fine. I seen a news article today that BP oil spill is rapidly clearing on its own. Yeah-right-several hundred MILLION gallons of pure crude and tons of dispersant are going to "clear on its own" in a few days. If you believe that can I sell you some good quality swamp land? :-)

@WinterHaven I think this operation is misguided. There were already brown pelicans living on Aransas. Either these introduced pelicans will fail to establish themselves here and will die, or they will displace the native pelicans, and the natives will die, or (more than likely) the introduced pelicans will fly back to Lousianna and get oiled again.

The rescue LOOKS good, but is probably a big waste of time and money.

Send them to CHINA! They will roast them, often alive because they believe torture enhances the flavor of the meat. They do it to cats all the time.

What's the point? THey just fly back to the Gulf (instinct) and get drowned in oil again. Most of them will die later because of the oil slowly poisons them. They would be better off euthanized.
