The Mersey Fellsman (12th June 2010) Part One: Liverpool to the Settle and Carlisle

The first in a three part special, filmed on Saturday 12th June 2010.

Compass Tours operated a Crewe to Liverpool and Carlisle excursion called the Mersey Fellsman. The train was worked by a pair of DRS Class 47 diesel locos (47802 and 47501 in Part One), and used Cargo D's BR Blue & Grey Mk2 and Mk3 passenger stock.

In part one, the journey starts at Liverpool Lime Street, with the arrival of a sick 47501 Craftsman. 47802 Pride of Cumbria then takes the helm, passing through Edge Hill, Prescot, St Helens Central, Garswood and Wigan North Western before taking to the 'Long Drag', with Ribblehead, Dent and Garsdale getting brief glances.

no thank you for posting! i had the pleasure of seeing 40145 going through " my station hawarden" last saturday and was gonna video it coming back up the bank from shotton (25 years since the last one!) i was bowled when it was leading so it would not clime bank on return, so respect for great vids

look at that man in 05:00 he is enjoying that thrash! thats how it should be done! but i still say the liveries let the tour down! a nice (BR blue silver roof cockney sparrow,) or large logo would be, HELLFIRE they do it with steam so why not with 60's traction?
