  • Great! Thought it was a Hammond organ. Saw the drawbars, but then Hammond organs look different. Nice playing and use of the sounds.

  • @koasterkav Thanks for the compliment, I think Wersi were trying to style themselves on Hammond

around the 1970's. Their electronic rotary Leslie effect called "Wersivoice" is pretty good for its time.

  • Love these old W-series Wersis. When the history of the electronic organ is written, they will be considered the high water mark of the analogue era. Nothing Wersi made subsequently was so impressive. I miss my old Galaxy.

    Great performance by the way.

  • Yes,its a shame the new ones have to use a computer based operating system and as a result they crash frequently I believe. When you're spending thousands on an organ you do not want this happening.I think maybe the new Roland organs with drawbars are a safer option. You can get some very close sounds on the Orla too.I had a Gt8000 but was too heavy to carry around gigging so I use a Nord C1 now with a Roland Sampler with my Helios samples going through an Orla KX980 Keyboard.

  • Great! What were the Helios' settings please?

  • Nothing comes close to the sound of the Helios. Even at the modern OAS models you can download the sounds from the Helios! The BETA that I own and the other models from the DX-range that followed have also good sounds, but not as special as the Helios. Great playing by the way.

  • Dear Maurizio, thanks so much for sharing!!!

this is great music and great interpretation!!!

Organaut, wonderful!!! my best wishes to you!!!!

  • You are fantastic, Organaut !!!

I like so much your play mode !!

Is always more pleasant to listen to your tunes !!!

That I like most is your ability to reproduce sounds of Klaus but with your personal style !!

    Mike

  • Bought it ready assembled - it was built by a Wersi engineer and was one of the first in the UK. Yes, it had the CX1, as well as the SoundComputer, Jimmy Smith Pak and Wersiharp arpeggiator. I did not have Wersi speakers for it. It now resides in Baltimore, USA.

  • Hi. Wondering why you parted with the Galaxy. Did it have the CX1 rhythm? Did you run the tall tower speakers (T5001) or the shorter ones? And did you build it or buy it assembled? Thanks

  • You are probably right, organfairy. I did like the strings on my X30 and wish I had kept it.Similar modulation effects were available on the Hammond B300 and the Arp solina. They called it bucket brigade delay lines.Depending how you set the trimpots you could get varying cross delay effects.

  • I think ELKA used a double delay line. I have an EP-8 - a little brother to the X-30 from the same time - and this organ use the same circuitry to make the leslie sound. I think the two leslie channels are added or subtracted when they are used for the strings. The downside is that this organ cannot do strings and leslie organ at the same time. When the strings are activated the leslie becomes a phaser to the organ sounds.
