'A' Field Battery, 4th Field Regiment is a parachute field artillery battery located at Holsworthy in Sydney, New South Wales. It comprises six guns (105mm L119 Hamel Gun), a headquarters element, technical support, transport, combat service support, catering and administrative elements. 'A' Field Battery directly supports the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (Para) and forms an integral part of the Airborne Battle Group.

  • God! What a typical grunt attitude. The ARA needs a proper fucking deployment to wake up some baby grunts who have no idea what the value of OS is. I guess you have not been anywhere so I also guess you have never needed OS, and dont say East Timor, let talk sand, the US/UK and Dutch OS has got the boys out of some real heavy shit via our FO/JTAC's get a life man instead of being a narrow minded 4 year wonder!!

  • Really sad to see the Airborne element of A Bty gone - I was very keen to join Arty as my Great Grandfather served in Gallipoli and in the Somme during WW1 with the 1st Field Arty Batallion, 1st brigade,1st bty. Now what am I gonna do? Shifting to mortars isn't it?
