That isn't a camera. It's a light sensor for controlling the LCD brightness of your screen and touch pad. :)

I have motorola V8. It SUCKS! My dad dropped his ONE time and the inner screen broke and motorola refused service saying that is 'abuse'. The interface also sucks - its very slow and hard to use. On the other hand, I have the LG Secret which is an excellent phone - and much more durable. The user interface makes much more sense. so, I have not tried the exact phones you mentioned, but I have tried very similar products and I am impressed by LG and very dissapointed by Motorola. Easy choice 4 me
