  • can the 30 ovens help with my project to bake fund raising cookies? It seems like this heat is going to waste other wise, and I want a bakery in the physics building plz.

  • @indiebobo07

How about a massive massive watercooling project to cool every single one of their 1000 motherboards.

It might actually work but they'd probably have to increase the size of everything to fit in the extra cooling.

Then they can chill the water itself with refrigeration after it passes through a heat dissipation radiator.

It would be an awesome project to see done.

  • couldn't the heat be transfered to a thermoelectric device? or at the very least cook with it :)

  • Ooh, good publicity for UWM and gravitational waves. I look forward to more videos in the future, Dr. Wiseman!

indiebobo07: Actually, believe it or not, the answer is no, you can't use that energy for something else. It's "waste heat," which in principle has to exist. This is one of the coolest thing you can learn in a freshman physics class... or a freshman physics book (check the section on thermodynamics).

  • I'm a UW-Milwaukee student.

Couldn't we use some other method of cooling than AC? All that heat by the computers is wasted energy...and we're wasting more to get rid of it?

There has got to be a better way to do that and with the output of 30 ovens all that wasted energy could be used for something, am I wrong?
