October 24-25, 1990

And so we come to the end of my very first video letters.

When I made my first video letter back in October of 1990, I actually made two simultaneously - one for my friend Jason, and one for my friend Brad. While many of the segments were re-used for both of them (the around town stuff in particular), many of the "talking segments" between them were different, catering to the specific interests of each friend. On MMC Retro, you've seen clips from both, in the original order they were filmed. This time around, we take a look at my closing comments from both video letters.

Each one contains stuff that I think MMC Retro fans will get a kick out of - such as me gushing about some of my favorite TV shows of 1990, some choice picks from my VHS collection, the very first mention of Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and yet more babbling about how much I loved my video camera.

Oh, and you'll also get your first semi-clear look at the mini-set I made for my sci-fi epic (the placement of which in my living room is the reason why our couch was moved to the hallway at the time...) I see if I can find some close-ups for you guys for a future vid.

Enjoy!

  • I liked the flash too!

I bought the series set on DVD.

  • Yeah, I really need to pick that up. Awesome show!

  • r u gonna upload the video u were making then on youtube???

  • Nope. See previous comments.

  • Is that the same camcorder you are using today?

  • No, not even close. I use a Digital8 camcorder now, which is two further generations of technology removed from the one I used in the video.

  • Too weird (in a you-are-beyond-awesome kind of way), it's like you looked into the future and realized there would be a You Tube one day and you better get a jump on making videos. I've been enjoying them all!

  • The begining of the Jayce love !

  • You still have that desk? (Just continuing a trend..LOL)

  • Great retro stuff again Sean! This takes me back to when Twin Peaks was still fresch and new.

It's crazy that you were doing this kind of thing before anyone even thought of blogs or video streaming. Even if I would have thought of it, I don't think I could have afforded the camcorder and other equipment back in the high school and college years, or better known as "the broken days".

  • Wow it's rare I see a video on YouTube that is older then me. You sir have dedication
