Love Bites—Chapter 14

He didnt answer. Instead, he pulled me into the cabin. It smelt of burning leaves, which I loved, and vanilla; A surprisingly amazing scent combination. He hit the lights and I looked around. Just like another house.

Demi: Why do rich people always need two houses? (I laughed)
Joe: Well, this was built especially for me. So its more like my own house. (He looked down at me)

Aw man, I wanted to think but I know Miley would know and think Im some crazy sex fiend . . . oh man! She probably heard all of that.

Joe closed the curtains with the snap of his fingers. I still wasnt getting used to that. With a head nod he set off candles and turned down the lights.

Demi: Well then . . . (I smiled)
Joe: Yeah, Im not very romantic so . . .
Demi: Couldve fooled me.
Joe: Years of practice? (He grinned)

There was a loud smash outside of the door and I jumped.

Joe: (Sighing) Dont worry, its just Nick.
Nick: (Opening the door) Sorry to interrupt, (Smirking slightly) but have you heard about these animal attacks?
Joe: No, has anyone been hurt?
Nick: Yeah, but I dont think those were animals . . . (He looked over at me to see if Ive caught on)
Demi: (I nodded) Yeah, David works for the department and theyre looking into it . . . is it a . . . ? (I looked at Nick)

He nodded and left us alone. Joe made his way towards me again and I just looked away.

Joe: Okay, whats wrong?
Demi: Usually Id be all up for this . . .
Joe: But?
Demi: I cant . . . knowing that that thing is running around out there.

Joe pulled me close and hugged me tight, placing his head on my shoulder.

Joe: Everything is going to be alright.
Demi: Who is it?
Joe: Im not sure, but it isnt like me.

I was scared. Thankfully I had Joe to protect and stay by my side. I looked up into his eyes. They were a darker maroon than usual. I kissed his check and then his lips. He kissed back with more passion and I opened my mouth slightly. He gasped and broke the kiss.

Joe: (Sighing) I cant.
Demi: Its fine. (I tried to steady my breathing)
Joe: Just until I can control myself.
Demi: I can wait . . . (Could I?)
