  • 109 design was never frozen, they upgraded it until the end but were limited by the airframe.. Only so much you can add until it becomes unstable, which the heavily armored K model was.

Maybe you are thinking of the freezing of the 262 so it could be put into production

And it was the P-51 that was the downfall not the P-47

  • Nov. 1943...

The war was lost for the Axis by then, anyway.

Zero was "the ultimate fighter" for a while also. Untill,as luck would have it, almost intact copy was picked up by americans and quickly all of its weakness were discovered.

Once you know what not to do, aerial combat becomes almost boring.

All planes of that era had many weakneses. 109 was a particular example. Georing froze its dev. and that was that. 190 was much more up to date but it too failed. What ungloriously killed Luftwaffe was P47.

  • @wlh1usa yup

  • @ME109Ace it means green heart it was as real as red 7

  • if we can go back in time and tell the fuhrer before it is too late to use this new ME-262 AS A FIGHTER........... and build them a year sooner, ..................

  • @ME109Ace you are right, its Grünherz.

  • I didn't notice it earlier... actually it's JG54 "Grünherz" or "Gruenherz". Grunhertz is wrong or at least not German.

  • and block, the 109d was a better dogfighter than the p51or spit. Those planes were all about altitude and bleeding the speed. But the 109 could outurn and outgun those planes. Its really about the situation. Take the fw 190, at lower altitudes, it was the best. And you didnt even mention the 262. I dont care how late it all was, you cant be an ass and ignore it or dub them "lies". They were a harsh reality for the allies
