the government is now forcing us to buy killer light bulbs by 2012 (this news cast says 2016, but web sites below say other wise), gee i wonder why?? to help kill more of us maybe???... aids, cancers, wars, genocide, poverty & starvation, (by the end of this year 28 million in the united states will be on food stamps) hmm... just not reducing the population fast enough,.. i know, lets force the slaves to light their houses with mercury! yeah that will help get rid of the bastards!
the bilderberg and cfr runned government has now banned traditional incandesent light bulbs by 2012 in other web sites,2016 by this account, call your congressmen and senators and stop this bullshit ban! its just another way to try to "thin out the herd" once again, with these dangerous cancerous bulbs, and they use the enviroment SCAM as a reason! thats right enviroment SCAM! If a compact fluorescent breaks over carpeting, the EPA warns, it's nearly impossible to clean up the mercury without ripping out contaminated portions of the carpet.
Compact fluorescents are a fine product and millions of Americans are happily choosing them. But they're not right for everyone. Many people might want to consider other options.
Unfortunately, they won't be able to in 2012 - the year government begins choosing light bulbs for us.

OK they tell you how to clean-up. what about what you've breathed in, is that harmful? somethings can be more trouble than what they are worth. when they are on does the mercury

escape in anyway? alot of people may not take them to the bio-hazard dump, then the poison will get in the air, poisoning us more than they are now. food for thought.

I agree. People should be given a choice until at least those mercury containing bulbs can be made virtually unbreakable. Those bulbs should be tougher than incandescent bulbs based on what they contain. This is ridiculous. This is stupidity!

Oh my goodness, get your home inspected ASAP. Mercury can be just as toxic as lead to brain health. If you do the right thing, you might be okay, but don't play around. Mercury is no joke.

The mercury based light bulb is not selling well compared to the cheap $1 bulb so the government is stepping in forcing companies out of business in place of mercury light bulb based businesses that buy out these political whores who call themselves *cough *cough "States Man". $50 led? Led is cheap to make for crying out loud and it's been use throughout the industry for more than 30 years although not used as a home bulb. But come on $50, bullshit rip off.

If you want to stop pollution how about we change from coal burning to multiple sources of energy; nuclear(uranium and thorium based), natural gas, wind energy in states like chicago where it is windy, hydro, solar in places like California, Texas, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, etc... where it's basically sunny through out the year. We can even replace oil with hydrogen if we just build nuclear plants and dedicate some for the use of separating the hydrogen from the water.

The commerce clause does not give the government the authority to ban use of a product or regulate on how a product is made or made out of. This is a State issue not a federal one. Commerce clause is there for regulating trade between States and Foreign countries, making sure trade is fair and nothing more. I have and had regular 75W light bulbs that lasted for more than 5 years. Mercury based lights actually make me tired and dizzy.

The florescent bulbs contain LESS then one drop of mercury it takes A LOT of mercury to cause brain damage. Second hand smoke is a bigger problem then these broken light bulbs. If you don't know chemistry don't act like you do.

fuck the planet, i(figuratively) im in the uk where they have now apparently banned the old light bulbs, according to the man in b and q

i purchaced a halogen 80w bulb for my room instead, and the light is very clear and bright and casts a clear shadow(unlike the energy efficent shit), the light and therefore the room feels better, i personaly prefur this for drawing and reading

so i figure if the light sorce and shadows are clearer that is why everything in the room looks sharper, am i correct?

I enjoy breaking cfl's after they burn out(yep they do quite often , due to cheap chinese balasts)..It's my little way to say F You to the left to deposit a little mercury dust around..I, of course, wear a respirator :)

Do you think everyone is going to drive to a disposal site with a light bulb. My guess is NO. So 10 years from now we will be dealing with high levels of mercury in our drinking water. This is coming from the same group that brought us ethanol and as Al Gore now says it was a bad idea.
