A video showing the Elgato EyeTV for DTT digital TV receiver running on my 24" iMac. It's running with the EyeTV 2.5 software which was included.

This product has prevented me from buying a TV for my room, the picture quality was much better than I expected for the price! All of the navigation in the video was controlled via the Apple remote, which means I can watch TV whilst in bed - highly recommended!

  • do you need internet to use it???

  • Not at all no.

  • Im just starting to explore this internet TV. I like what I see. So why would I continue paying for cable at home? ;-)

Is there a subscription fee for this?

    Thanks for the vid!

  • It actually doesn't use the internet at all. It just allows your computer to receive Freeview (here in the UK at least, not sure about other countries). Using your computer for this means that you can easily record programs, pause TV, etc.

  • Hi there - do you live in the London area? i only ask , as i am thinking about buying an EyeTV Elgato for my new 24" iMac- i live in London- so i am wondering if this is what the reception would be like for London area?

Also- how old is your version of model EyeTV? is it the diversity? or Hybrid version?

    Thanks - steve.

  • Hi, I don't live in London no, I live in the Midlands. I'd imagine that reception would be good in the London area though. You can check online - just Google 'freeview availability' and it's right at the top.

This is the 'EyeTV for DTT', not the Diversity or Hybrid model. The Diversity includes two tuners, so you can record one program and watch another at the same time. Mine just has the one.

    Hope that helps :)

  • It's difficult to tell just how good the picture is. How does this compare to Tivo or a DVR through a cable service? Their monthly fees are a tad ridiculous.

  • Are you able to watch HD channels? or is it SD only?

  • Oh man your from Britain

  • Rip off, I can't justify getting this, its for over $200(USD). Better off getting a HD usb tv tuner.. for like $50-80

  • I bought the EyeTV Hybrid instead, it has both antenna and cable support :P. and the best of all is, you can connect ps3/wii/ps2/xbox360.. without problems :)

  • hi,

is a wallpaper on your desktop with the rain?

  • Small world, just youtubed this cause im looking to get one and this video popped, only by marky-baby locker! From Ashley!!!! xx

  • @marklocker

hey dude, does it still work after the transition to digital TV? Also, does it capture HDtv signals? :D thanks in advance!

  • @CrazyWtfFilms do you mean the eyetv or the imac itself?

  • @GlockNinja Not very great ive tried this with ps3 and xbox360 the picture gets really dark and cuts some of the game screen so its not great for gaming
