(As this was filmed in a dark room you do not get the full feel of the installation) Lex is a multimedia installation of sound and light, comprising of a generative composition that is activated when a participant is standing in a particular position within the installation. The sounds of the composition are controlling the brightness of the lights. This installation is set in a dark room so that when participants enter the room they are unable to see anything other than the glow of a big white light hanging in the centre of the room. As participants eyes adjust, they should notice a faint white pathway from the door of the room leading towards the light. If a participant does not notice this path it is expected that he/she will naturally walk towards the light. Underneath this white light is a pressure mat so that when the participant gets to the light he automatically stands on it, causing it to send a message to the computer that is running the installation. The computer then switches off the main light as a loud transition sound plays, then the generative composition starts and the little blue lights that are around the participant begin to fade in and out according to the amplitude of the sounds .
