Cellulose insulation can be dense packed into exterior walls from the outside after the siding has been removed. A larger drill with side handle and carbide tipped hole saw work best. When drilling the hole be careful not to cut electrical wires inside the wall. After the hole is cut measure left and right to approximate the placement of the next stud, as well as to be certain that there were no additional studs placed between the previous hole and the one just drilled. If it is difficult getting the fill tube to bend and move up or down the wall cavity drill another hole at an up angle and a down angle.

  • What size hole are you drilling? How do you repair/fill the holes?

    Thanks.

  • @BlessThisHouseInspct We drill 2 9/16" holes and plug with kiln dried pine plug purchased from JR Insulation Warehouse

  • That was a Rigid and it burned up a few days later. We now use only the Milwaukee D Style drill 0-500 rpm with detachable cord. They go for about $200 on-line. Its the best tool for drilling 200-300 holes a day.
