Why would two devout Christians cling to their faith despite their doubt? On Bill Moyers on Faith & Reason, airing Friday, July 21 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings), author Richard Rodriguez and scientist Sir John Houghton take viewers deep into their personal beliefs and questions about their own faith. Rodriguez, a life-long Catholic, has remained in the Church even though it condemns his homosexuality.

All part of what it means to be human. Religious forgiveness should come at the cost of sincerely trying to improve one's character. Too often folks go to church to be forgiven for "errors, weakness" and then forget to honestly seek to be better. We all need to deal with those feelings.

His sorrow does not show his intellegence, but it does show his wisdom.

Read his books. Richard Rodriguez is anything but a loser. And I'm sure he knows the Catholic Church is very catholic--probably more than any other church it has always embraced those who don't follow the mom-dad-kids route.
I wonder if he goes to Dignity masses--Dignity is a Catholic organization for gays and friends of gays.

Yo creo, tal como acabo de mirar esta entrevista, que tener fe no significa en nada cometer errores al margen del amor, pues el pecado no existe, la limosna y la industria del vaticano sí.
