FF7 Crisis Core - Brutality of the optional boss (9-6-6)

Or "How NOT to fight the optional boss".

A tough boss + inability to anticipate attacks do not mix well. :P This is just the first 5 or so minutes of a 10 - 20-minute fight. The time depends on how much you have to stop and heal, how many times Minerva uses Judgement Arrow (裁きの矢), if she uses her invincibility barrier, and how many times you get DMWs. :P

I'm really REALLY horrible at timing my dodges so I'd rather just block and take some damage than risk getting the full brunt of an attack. :/

I was doing all right at the start but after the first Judgement Arrow, you can see things sort of went downhill. :3

I didn't get to show Ultima but that thing is instant death if you can't block it. Blocking it reduces the damage to 50000 - 60000 HP or so. This is assuming you have MBarrier going and Mind at 255. :E

To answer the inevitable question, my set-up was this:

Mug Stamina+100
Sacrifice Punch Stamina+100
Spin Attack Plus Strength+100
Curaga Mind+100
Energy Mind+94
Wall HP+999%

For accessories, I had all 4 Genji equipment.

Stats were Strength 165, Stamina 255, Magic Power 62, Mind 255, and Luck 46. Oh, and I was at level 93. HP max was 70325.

There isn't actually a NEED to be over level 90 at all if you fused your Materia and have the right equipment to take on this boss.

Er, please no questions about boosting stats and where to get the Genji equipment.

Oh yeah, Minerva has 10,000,000 HP so you'll have to punch her 100 times (at max damage) in the gut to take her out.

I dropped the frame rate and increased compression of audio and video to make this file a reasonable size.

I'm playing the game again now on hard... Managed to beat "hard" Minerva 2nd time around despite her casting Judgment Arrow on me 3 CONSECUTIVE times near the end!!!! The first 2 nearly killed me but I was saved fortituously by a DMV screen when she did it the 3rd time (as you get temporary invulnerability in that second before modulation mode activates), she didn't try a fourth thank god or that would be it. I think it took me at least 45 mins to take her down, Minerva on hard has like 20m HP.

My equipment was not as good facing Minerva but it seems I had a much easier time. Soul of Thamasa, Brutal, Genji Armor and Ziedrich.

Curaga Vit +100, Wall Spr+100, Mug & Costly Punch both adding HP+999% and Dualcast. With 99999 HP I didn't hesitate anywhere near as much to attack or block rather than waste time running from Crimson Flare. The Regen ticks 4-5k anyway. It was only 2/3 through when she was getting very quick to wipe away Raise & AP (Soma!) and using Ultima I felt some pressure.
