http://www.globalchange.com Older travellers (anyone over 50) have different needs. Grey spending power. For example they need reading glasses to read a menu in a restaurant by candelight. Example of customer blindness by staff to needs of retired people. Need to be focussed on customer needs: comfort, quality, convenience, security and for travel companions (especially those who are over 80 who are often bereaved. Senior citizens impact of medical / health tourism. 1 million health-related visits to Thailand and 100,000 to India. Other trends relating to travel and tourism industries. • I had to study mobile phones at University and find one which was well suited to an older person. It quickly became clear why not many older people use mobile phones! Small high resolution screens and small compact buttons make it a nightmare for them!

Speaking of font size. It often baffles me why some people use huge font on their eBay auctions. If I am viewing their auction page then they already grabbed my attention, all they are doing is making their sales pitch harder to read.

  • Thanks - interesting.

  • You got one thing right, I don't want hassels. Simple rather than frills.

Price, cheap is always good provided it doesn't mean problems. A few more dollars to get seamless service is good value.

Problems do happen, how they are solved is important.

  • Thanks.

  • I think the travel is increasing with people over 50. I think most are still more comfortable talking to a travel agent rather than booking on line. Most of the time when we travel there are a number of older friends, family and acquaintances that travel with us. For that reason I use a live travel agent so that all the little details that come with age can be addressed before embarking on a trip. I think I will blog on that subject this week and give some resources for that.

  • Over 60's are the ones that can afford patek philippe

  • hey, shut up, already.
