WHAT?! Acupuncture needles come sterile, in sealed packages. They are specially made to be super thin, with a specially designed tip. Sewing needles are in no way appropriate, even as a replacement for larger/thicker acupuncture needles.

I used to be scared of needles too :-) My first acupuncture treatment, I was so intimidated...then the acupuncturist pricked my hand...and i didn't feel a thing. I was staring at the needle in my hand in awe. However, Acupuncture in the face, hands, and feet are not the most pleasant sensations. Everywhere else is painless, and you don't even feel the needles :-)
