wow this sounds like uploaded the track it doesn't even sound as though this is being picked up by a camera mic. that must sound ridiculous in person. they don't make em like they used 2.

It sounds absolutely incredible in person... The camera mic definitely does not do it justice (despite how good it sounds). The other major aspect is the stereo soundstage... unbelievable.

I remember the Dahlquist DQ-10 very well. They were designed to sound as close to the Quad Electrostatics of England as they could get, but with the ability to have more bass and play at high volume,which was lacking in the Quads. They do have excellent staging, and once you get use to listening to the out of box sound produced by Quads electrostatics, Magnaplanar, and the Dahlquist it's hard to go back to conventional box speakers. Are those Quad speakers on the left or the DQ-10 cabinet

Those are one of the best speakers I've heard, and they once belonged to my uncle. The sound stage is amazing on these.

That was just the grille covers.

One of my uncle had a pair of these, matched with an amazing sub ( do not remember wich one)

and a french tube amp "Ampliton", i must say I haven't heard anything as astonishing in power and finesse in the last 30 years. Dahlquist speakers are just jewel you lucky guy!!

Currently selling a pair of Bose model 601 if anyone interested, in France ;)

DQ-10s image like you can count angels dancing on the head of a pin. Hard to believe such a mish-mash of drivers scattered about can do this but they do. The Dahlquist was arguably the first phase aligned speaker ever made. Believe it or not Consumer reports magazine actually down rated them because of their pinpoint imaging. Jon Dahlquist was agenius.

@spatsbear2 HAve a set [actually 2 sets] of DQ-10s on custom welded stands over each other - gets rid of the "balcony" vertical stage effect of the single pairs - and IS OVERWHELMINGLY AWESOME!!! drivin em with a phase linear 400 BUT am about to embark on woofer re-foam - so they are temp out of service.

Can someone please help me on the Dahlquist DQ 32. I've been searching the webs but not much info for this pair. It looks great but its doesn't sound like what I expected. I unscrew the speakers and found out that the midrange the tweeter are Vifa brand and the woofer is Audiosphere. Maybe that's why it doesn't sound so great. Thankx

The DQ-10s are true high end legends. Designed by Saul Marantz and Jon Daulquist, this unusual and innovative speaker from 1973, was ten years ahead of its time. Its "phased array" concept of having multiple drivers mounted at different depths was an original idea in dynamic speakers contributing to the DQ-10s large, very open, boxless soundfield. Daulquist, along with a few other small firms like Audio Research, Mark Levinson, Linn Sondek and Magnepan, started High End audio in the early 70s.

yeah i remembered my first Vintage HIFI moment it was when my KLH Model 120 3-Way 5/290W Speakers Powered By A JVC 1998 receiver I use to be running on the stock Hifi speakers then i got the KLHs and I was Shocked it was outstanding SQ Coming from these speakers ill make a vid on monday with my new camera playing the WHO greatest hits its out standing
