XAVION : You're My Type

Xavion were an all Black hard rock band from Memphis, TN who released one album on Asylum/Mirage records in 1984 entitled Burnin Hot. Xavion pre-dated Living Colour by a full four years but didnt find the same mainstream acceptance from rock audiences that LC enjoyed. Their lone single, Eat Your Heart Out, received light airplay at rock radio. Their sound featured heavy guitar, lots of keyboard and an overabundance of the sound-du-jour, cheesetastic synth drums. If you can imagine Duran Duran as a hair metal band fronted by Prince in his Lets Go Crazy mode, you might get an idea of their sound

Saw Dex on X factor.....he did good!!! I LOVED this album back in the day...wore out 2 cassettes.....I was heavy into metal back then but I really loved thier sound!!!!

pROBLEM FOR THIS GROUP WASN'T SO MUCH THAT IT WAS A bLACK ROCK BAND. aCTUALLY, IT REMINDS ME OF SEVERAL bLACK GROUPs making the charts in the 80's: Ohio, Cameo, Gap Band, etc. xAVION was'nt much different than these groups. Promotion, marketing and just plain luck were factors.
