We grabbed our bikes and celebrated National Bike Month at the Lock to Lock Ride!
We rode 18.5 or 37 miles along the scenic Historic Augusta Canal Area on hard packed dirt and asphalt roads with no hills; a perfect ride for all of our family and friends!
The ride started at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion @ 2:30pm. We rode to the New Lock and Dam, having rest stops along the way serving Powerade and snacks.
Once at the New Lock and Dam, there was a delicious meal by Takosushi, and a (day after0 raffle with some great prizes. After grabbing a bite to eat, we cycled back up to the Savannah Rapids Pavilion as some of us watched the sun set.
And yes, the ever popular Sno-Cone stop was in place on the way back!
All pre-registrants received a commemorative Lock to Lock T-Shirt.
Here's what folks had to say about the Lock to Lock Bike Ride...
"I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much we enjoyed this year's Lock to Lock ride. We really felt like we could take our time, relax, and enjoy the ride. The food was wonderful and the little extra touches like the sno-cones and cookies at the rest stops were welcome additions. Thanks so much!"
"I'd like to compliment you and the entire crew for an outstanding ride. It was a great route and the food was very enjoyable. I was impressed with the generous gifts at the raffle and I'm looking forward to next year's ride!"
"Great ride! The route was marked good, food was great, and the format worked well. Keep up the good work!"
Please join us for next years ride.
