I had the amazing opportunity to play drums with Aaron Shust on the the song Matchless. It was fun... I kinda look dull and serious... oh well...
Many thanks to Aaron Shust for allowing people to do this!

  • I couldn't do this...to nerve racking for me. I can't believe how good you did!!!

  • @JohnsDrumCovers Thanks! Being nervous is something I've never really had a problem with (and I thank God for that!). This was definitely one of the coolest experiences I've had thus far. I think you wouldn't have done to shabbily ;)

  • Started playing in 5th grade, so technically 30 years. Was in (local club/garage + community) bands through the early 2000's, then was reduced to Summer Concert Band (6 concerts during the Summer) for a few years I started filling in about once/month on worship team about a year ago (had just joined the church in late '07). It has helped with the rust but I'm still not the drummer I was. to make a short story long, LOL! Contest has me woodshedding again tho, so it was worth it just 4 that!

  • Sweet!

  • Yeah... Evans heads are good! It was encouraging when I got behind the set- they had the same heads (g2 coated) that I have on mine and that we use at church... I was like "nice heads!".

Probably not... how long have you played?

  • It's a real loud, but dead sound. I have Evans heads on them which sound pretty good (of course the ones on the set are really old). Certainly could have used the distraction if I were up against you! This old man has gotten too rusty over the years! If it happens there will be video.

    Peace.

  • Ha, yeah. I looked them up after watching your video. Sound different... kinda weird... but cool... I'm guessing you could do it without the distraction... Post a live vid if you do!

  • Yeah, those are North drums. They were made in the 70's. I actually have a full 2nd rack/bass drum (6 mounted toms total) but what I had set up was overkill for that song as it was! Figured if I could get him distracted staring at the drums he might ignore the shoddy playing! I'll find out this weekend if it worked!

  • Thanks! Your vid isn't bad, either! I'd never seen drums quite like yours...
