  • Noam Chomsky is one of the few voices that represent reality that is heard. I mean, when will we ever hear someone on mainstream TV ask a Republican about the fact that they once stood for worker-owned mills etc? They can say "America was founded on capitalism" as many times as they want without being called out on it.

Noam Chomsky cares about facts, and those who attempt to marginalize him have shown again and again to be against people knowing the truth about history and current affairs...

  • @truevoice08 Once again with the quoting, huh?

Yeah, those pinkos seem really frightened!

  • His voice gives me goosebumps! I could fall asleep listening to his wisdom.

  • TY muchly for uploading this on YT.

I was looking for glimpses of this Mark A Littler videofilm before D/Ling from the slowboatfilms URL

Much of what you say - stand alone - is not off. But the moral grammar does have question marks, tonally. Looking to fragile situations is not compatible w/ a combative tone, where scorn meets mood music.

Filmmaker Littler himself says, "I'm interested in people who dance to their own beat, prototypes who fix their radio with a blow torch."

  • @PoliticsStudent "And there is your tacit admission that my initial point is correct. Thanks for agreeing with me." Specific reasons: They didn't try to create a "home-ownership society" for the poor through massive credit expansion unlike in the US under Bush. Read carefully kid.

"Essentially what you're saying is that conclusions should not be substantiated, but merely assumed. Keep on believing that."

No. I'm not saying that at all. You're the one assuming causation to fit ideology.

  • @truevoice08 Also...

"Moreover, it's not really a question of evidence, but commonsense."

Essentially what you're saying is that conclusions should not be substantiated, but merely assumed. Keep on believing that.

  • @truevoice08 Social spending as a % of GDP shows the exact same story, so your point is moot. Keeping with my example, Sweden has much higher social spending as a % of GDP than Euro countries with debt problems. Any other irrelevant points you want to make?

"There are specific reasons Canada and Sweden are performing better than others"

And there is your tacit admission that my initial point is correct. Thanks for agreeing with me.

  • @PoliticsStudent Lower 'social spending' per capita in absolute terms is different from 'social spending' as a % of GDP. Your analysis is misguiding as some countries are richer than others after all. There are specific reasons Canada and Sweden are performing better than others (They didn't try to create a "home-ownership society" for the poor unlike in the US under Bush). Moreover, it's not really a question of evidence, but commonsense. The more the State spends, the more debt is incurred.

  • @truevoice08 The idea that the current debt problems of some countries is related to the welfare state is not supported by the evidence at all. The countries with debt problems have lower social spending per capita than countries performing relatively well, like Sweden, and yet somehow it is an issue with the welfare state. Canada is performing better economically and has is handling debt and deficit better than the States and social spending is much higher, how do you explain that?
