1954 Jaguar XK-120 Scam On eBay Motors 140591510559

I had been following this one last month after a bidder posted a question on the eBay Motors discussion board. The discussion was quite active and even most of the regulars thought the listing was legit. The seller had also bought some European car parts on eBay Motors.

One of my tipsters was high bidder at $51k with reserve not met. Soon there after the seller made contact offering to sell the car for $18k, and sent a link to buy the car on eBay. Only problem was it was a scam!

The scam website looked pretty decent but someone familiar with eBay Motors could spot the errors on the page header. But this website is able to authenticate an eBay Members ID somehow. This has been happening for many many years. Looks like the eBay Back Door is wide open!

There was another sap asking for help on the eBay Motors Forums about contacting a seller with this low key style of listing. Seller has not replied and i bet is waiting for the listing to end so he can send out 2nd chance scams just like this one.

The idiots left on that board are blaming it on a bug in the eBay mail system. That's a crock of idiot advice!

This is just another example of how bad things are at Paypal and Ebay. Now,in the last few hours Ebay has PULLED/Sanitized the site by removing the thread posted about what was done to a favorite ebayer who HELPED hundreds of ebayers on ebay and paypal policies?
