Please consider an irregular cancerous growth, say in a prostate. Initially the whole malignant tumour (considered 2-D)is at 37 degrees C, hence the blue color. A possible future method of cancer treatment is to have enzymes carry gold nanoparticles to the cancerous growth. The patient is then irradiated with radio waves, and the cancerous growth gets heated above 43.4 degrees C when the cells die. Then at time = 0, heating is started caused by radiation on the targeted gold nanoparticles and the prostate boundary is maintained a temperature of 37 degrees C. Subsequent slides show how the heat travels through the cancerous tumour until the malignant cells die.

  • WOW....excellent application of multiple technological tools such as flash technology. I can already see tremendous application of this type of application in various fields of research.

  • This is a great idea! You may apply for research funding in the area of BME by using this idea. ME+BME may generate a spectacular result.
