A brief demonstration and improvisation on the keyless alto. Note, I'm using the neck from my Selmer Mark VI.

  • where can i pick up one of these and for how much? i dug the funky stuff you did in the second part haha

  • @clix089 Thanks! See earlier comments for more info.

  • Wow. Do they make one for tenor?

  • @dluo117 I believe so.

  • good job working with what you had, but what's the point... dumb instrument.

  • @thinkbigize This is an instrument for practice . . . mastery of overtones and low register, without having to worry about squeezing down all the keys. This demonstration simply shows what is possible. It is certainly not intended for performance!

  • i could see this making a great prank or gag. Show up to a gig with it and say to the band.. Sorry guys, I packed the wrong horn, we're gonna have to play everything in Db today... :) Nice overtones by the way!

  • How do they do that? Whenever I try for overtones, I'm lucky if I ger the note after the octave.

  • this is the first time i will ever say an instrument sounds ugly

  • I would love to play one of those with my Fat Neck that I use for my cannonball x]

  • Hollywoodwinds is the only company making keyless sax, Hollywoodwinds make keyless alto saxophone and keyless tenor saxophone, soprano and baritone are special order only.

  • I can't believe I never heard of a "keyless" saxophone before.

  • Worst idea ever...

  • @Patbad73 I'm sorry, i'm not actually sure, I saw one on a video demonstrating various saxophones, Im sure with some googling you may find it

  • @TheMrsaxman Where do I buy one?

  • @Patbad73 I believe they already have actually

  • @chaosaxis This plays the harmonic series based on an alto's Bb (concert Db), which is exactly how a bugle works. Octave P5 P4 M3 m3 m3 M2
