The notes played are of a different soundfont. A differents soundfont can change the instuments (Faces, Objects, Ect.) How they sound, How long they play, how loud they are, pretty much in any way. The default soundfont is the normal mario one everyone starts with

How do you lengthen the notes? I'm making a song right now (or at least I'm trying to), but when I input a note it only plays for split-second.

@TheHippyhopp Very possible indeed :). I think he replaced the WAV encoding inside his soundset.sf2. Which is a file that Mariopaintcomposer.exe uses to load data for the sound.
