  • as i've mentioned elsewhere, jimmy had a crush on maggie since their college playhouse days. she never took him seriously and went after men with greater ambitions- producers, writers.

  • @bigred997 Yes, I've read about that, too. There were some who knew both of them well that had different points of view on Maggie's feelings for Jim. Stewart's wife, for instance, had a very interesting assessment of the matter: 'I always knew he was madly in love with Margaret Sullavan, and she was with him. But she was more in love with her career.'

    And Joshua Logan, a friend of Sullavan and Stewart since their Princeton days, said that 'there was love between them from the very start.'
