Warwick Quinton's (Octapod) presentation at Connecting Up 2006, in Adelaide/Australia. The Conference centers around ICT in the not for profit and community sectors. His presentation is about 'The Newmesh Project - Arts and new media using online radio and wireless technologies in Newcastle, NSW'

Octapod is focused on Arts and New Media, with a specific interest in using ICT to connect people and groups. We are a not-for-profit Association operating in Newcastle, NSW. We are currently hosting 30 or more websites for a range of community groups and individuals, which typically include features such as mailing lists, online galleries, web radio, discussion groups, databases and online organisational hubs for projects. We also run an online radio station, TiN radio (www.tin.org.au ) We are developing a community intranet with WiFi access throughout the Newcastle CBD. This project, 'NewMesh', will enable community groups to better integrate with each other's activities via a combination of ICT strategies. Its secondary aim is to make our online radio station and other community media projects more easily accessible in the local government area.
