RepREZentin' in Fort Chip (excerpt)
The youth of Ft. Chipewyan are growing up and behaving like all teenagers do. On the weekends they like to hang out with their friends and some like to party. Using alcohol is nothing new to some of them, but it all seems relatively harmless to Robyn, until the worst happens. Robyn blacks out one night and can't remember what happens before her sister drags her, passed out, inside off of their front porch in the middle of a cold night.
Twelve-year-old Amber had been waiting all night alone in the house only to find her sister Robyn dumped on the steps. They both know that Robyn has been violated in her blacked-out state, but Robyn has no memory or clues. The only links to the night before are the blurry recollection of Robyn's best-friend Jennifer, the sleepy vision of Amber and a lost running shoe. Amber becomes the older sister and learns some valuable lessons while Robyn deals with the hardest lesson she's ever had to learn in her 17 years.
One old friend arrives in town just when Robyn needs him most. His battles with alcohol and drugs and his subsequent rehabilitation teach Robyn and Amber both that it's never too late or too early to make the choice to lead a substance-free life.
