The best in slot bang for buck physx card out there is a 9800gtx+. At stock it is on par with a gtx550ti when it comes down to 32bit single precision floating point performance which is what most cuda and physx applications depend on. For single slot there isn't much out there that is modern that can beat a 8800/9800gt in physx but the closest thing out there at the moment is a gts450 eco.
