Tandoor is a clay oven made of special clay, in fact, it is basically little more than a very large clay pot, large enough to hold a good sized fire and then all the food that gets placed in it. It is designed to provide very high, dry heat in which the food is prepared. New Product from the Cowshed: http://www.thecowshed.biz/cat--The-Tandoor-Indian-Clay-Oven--Tandoor.html
I hope you would answer my questions?
1. How long does it take for the charcoal to burn?
2. How to lit the tandoor?
3. what did you add to the skewers apart from the chicken?
4. it looks like a potato.. is it a potato?
thanks for the great video.

@ffiona25
Ans: From start to cooking temperature (SS1: 30 minutes) (SS2: 40 minutes)
Ans: You can light the lumpwood charcoal using fire lighters. These are available from B&Q, Homebase, Wicks for 2.29 a pack which contains 20 squares. You only need 2 squares cut in half as shown in the video
Ans: Potato, to ensure last piece of the meat (close to burning charcoal) doesn't burn

Won't the chicken pieces that are at the tips pf the skewers burn and the ones near the top be less cooked? I don't see how it can cook evenly using this method because some are just a lot closer to the fire.

@moofushu The design of tandoori oven ensures that less heat is escaped from the top as the curve in the belly of the clay pot forces heat to flow downwards.
Chicken or any meat closer to the burning charcoal will surely cook quicker than the meat on the top of the skewers. For that reason, you can use half cut potato or onion. This ensures that meat closer to the burning charcoal is not burnt.
