The stunning, beautiful, awesome scenery of Kihea, south Maui, as seen early in the morning...
This clip was taken from my film, "A Summer In Maui" which was a full length (66min) film documenting our 20+ group family trip to Maui in June of 2008.
In this scene I woke up around 4:30 a.m. everyday to get these isolated shots of the southern shore beaches of Kihea, Maui.
I was trying to film it as cinematic as possible and experimented with manual lens focus and lighting. It was shot on a Canon HV20 and deinterlaced to 30P.
Being the only person on these beachs was an incredible, surreal feeling. It really put a focus on my existence on Planet Earth...To hear and see the stunning, beautiful sights with no interruptions or distractions was one of the most peacful, awesome feelings I've experienced...
