The 2 dances shown in this clip (which I believe were both devised especially for the series) seem more akin to what would be described nowadays as ceilidh dances. The more elegant dance which Emma subsequently dances with Mr. Knightly is more like a kind of country dance known in Scottish country dance (SCD) circles as a strathspey. Both ceilidh dances and country dances (traditional ones and newly-devised ones) are still danced by ceilidh groups and country dance groups. Sue Willdig
