Wireless carriers are not responsible for the building materials, trees, etc. that prevent the signal from staying strong indoors. I think the price for repeaters are reaching a reasonable price for what they are able to do.

I bought the unit in August 2007 for $250 at Best Buy ($50 discount deal).
Works GREAT!
My T-mobile phone is now my primary phone.
