Thousands of years ago, they were used to help frame the world of the ancients, and dictate the guidelines of their societies. Today, they are often the first stories we learn as children, iconic tales where good and evil clash, and humanity and fantasy collide. But what is the reality behind these stories? From the epic tragedy of Medusa, Greek mythology's most infamous female fiend, to Hercules, its greatest action hero, and Hades, master of the land of the dead and a god so feared no one would speak his name, explore these myths and the legendary figures who inspired them in CLASH OF THE GODS. Each episode connects ancient myths to actual historical events, as well as to events in the Bible and other cultures' mythologies, gaining important historical insight from renowned scholars in search of the truth behind the legends.

  • i think the greeks had a pretty great view of life & faith ...but then came jesus and messed it up

  • History Channel wasn't getting off topic, comparative mythology is a huge field in mythology studies. Christianity did usurp old religions and they mention it briefly at the end, that's hardly getting off topic. It's concluding the end of the time of Zeus worship.

  • I understand why the History channel tries to tie in Christianity to Greek myths but they simply did a very lousy job, confusing everyone and making the connections very weak. They simply should of stuck to just the myths themselves as they are excellent for reading and fascinating. They Odyssey definitely being the greatest myth ever told.

  • So many gods -__- This is why im part athiest

  • zeus look kinda gay

  • i thought zeus had muscle #Just sayin

  • a thought zeus was liam neeson ? lol

  • @StuartMason09 Oh, I watched Hercules too. That one's pretty clean, but the burning... the known version is that his wife, tricked by a centaur, applied a toxic blood on his robes, and it burnt his skin until he dies - he wanted to live. I don't think Jesus's self-sacrificing death was drew from Hercules. I think his crucifixion is historical fact.

If you watch Thor, to clear the confusion, Ragnarok is a prophecy of future & some Norse deities is said to survive it.

  • @StuartMason09 This one's actually light on Christianity side. Try watching the Hades & Thor ones - things starts getting very obvious. Essentially, they say all Gods are just low level appetizer before Jesus come - and history.com twist facts to do so. Ending of Hades's a joke while the Thor's just plain incorrect. While the connection is fascinating, the way history.com twist information is sick & their tone is VERY bias in the Hades & Thor ones. It become an obvious propaganda.
