The man's statement is false. There are no seperate universes with regards to us humans on Earth. Simply, seperate perceptions of the same exact town within the same exact instances of being. Geographically, and even ideologically, the town remains the constant variable. Your idea of the town may be different, but the town is still the town no matter who enters or does not enter it. Your body is inherently yours and WILL influence your perception and thus your identity.

@sabymoon This separation of body and mind has nothing to do with famine. A hungry man is unable to separate his empty stomach from his mind. These mind games are for people with a full stomach and a lot of time, like monks and philosophers. -Afterlife is a dream, a hope of people who do not want to think that their little ego could be extinct one day. -Most of the cases of children "remembering" their precious lives were frauds.

@ruzickaw the Mind/Body dichotomy is a basic flaw in Western philosophy. It originated when famine, disease, war, and plague wracked the known world. As a result of no rewards within a lifetime for toeing the Church's teachings, promises were made in the afterlife. Karma within one life is a definite law of physics. Perhaps the energy of Spirit is preserved, in another form, for another lifetime. Young children with vivid memories are either evidence of this, or nubs in the fabric of space-time

Anyone know what this is from?

@ruzickaw Humans, and humans alone are distinguishably 'sentient' unlike any other creature in this world. Animals (are) vested with a Spirit, it is Not the same level of Spirit as embodies us. We share a physical dimension of this &/or other universes, but so far, in this dimension, animals do not operate at the epitome of human consciousness. We can Train 'em, and they cain't even cuss.

@RamaRendezvoo If we are spiritual beings, than a cow is also spiritual, because it is a living being.
This separation of body and mind is old fashioned and should be overcome.
It is human vanity to think that humans are spiritual. Have a look around, most humans are worse than animals.

@ruzickaw Spirit. We are not Physical beings having a Spirtual experience, but rather, Spiritual beings having a Physical experience.

Desire is life. Without desire we would be dead. There is this build-in desire to live and to go on living.
The town is there. If at this moment i want only a pizza, well i look for a pizza hut.
I am not interested in a libary, but in the back of muy mind i know that there is a liberay in town.So what is wrong with this?
And that each person sees the same town with different eyes, is a fact. Accept it.
"I am not this body", then you are something separate from it. What?
Just mind?
From this and many other full-length lectures of his, I gather he's saying that our desire systems influence us to selectively perceive, to accentuate or downplay, certain aspects of our experiences. He then offers an alternative viewpoint, a conceptual construct, within which to interpret our experiences. He's saying, in effect, "Isn't there another way to look at this? We are active participants in the construction of our reality."
Life is opinion. Life is interpretation.
