From the album - Safe As Milk

(so sad baby so glad girl)
When you first came round I was sad
My head hung down I felt really bad
Now I'm glad, glad about the good times that we've had

Walked in the park
kissed in the dark

leaves burned just like just like a spark
Now I'm glad
glad about the good times that we've had

You went away I cried night and day
for what you done I had to pay
Left me so blue I don't know
where to go or what to do
please come back and let the sun shine through

Sun passed behind a cloud
I felt so proud
We walk down the street people smile that we meet
And I'm glad glad about the good times that we've had
You said I was the best man that you've ever had oh!
Now I'm glad oh so glad

  • Don Van Vliet had the most soulful white male voice EVER. It's a shame that his music is so overlooked and tracks like this prove how he could emote effortlessly. There is nothing fake about this track. This is so beautiful. Safe As Milk has become my favourite album of all time. i love all their other work but this is obviously more accessible and fits any occasion whereas something like Lick My Decals off is great in certain situations.

  • Damn honestly one of the best songs i heard in a long ass time.

  • his voice.

  • Woah, I'm in the Beefheart part of Youtube again.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs ever, just holy damn

  • I love this song! It's brilliant! I think the video is from Das Cabinet Des Dr. Caligari a film from 1920 :D

  • shit. I heard this earlier today for the first time in about a year and it feels so weird hearing it now that he's dead. I always wanted to shake his hand. Don's body of work means so much to me.

  • Reminds me a lot of Otis Redding

  • I'd give about 3 to 4 thumbs up, if I'd only had the oportunity, blaming Youtube and itsy bitsy amount Alice Järvet for the bit of lack.

  • Goddamn somebody PLEASE tell me what this black and white movie is!!!

  • @certificate18flix Well said. Very well said. I can appreciate other Captain Beefheart albums, and I certainly appreciate the brilliant madness that is evident in his later works, but Safe as Milk is really a masterpiece. Definitely my favorite album of his and one of my favorites of all time. Cheers!

  • @skullzrulemymind are you Dweezle Zappa?
