@x1600meterman ... are the ones that I have heard of. The PIRA and OIRA both have declared a cease fire, but teh CIRA and RIRA continue to fight for a united Ireland. They are viewed as either freedom fighters/liberators or terrorists, depending on which side of the conflict you associate with. Hope this helps. @x1600meterman The IRA are the Irish Republican Army. They played an instrumental role in the Anglo-Irish War of 1919-1921. They fought for Irish Independence in that war, but split after the war into pro-treaty and anti-treaty. The IRA became defunct as time went on, but sprang back to life with the onset of the Irish Troubles in the late 1960s.
