I recently read from two blogs that someone had asked the blue angels crew personally. A few people are saying now that the control stick got stuck and Lt. Cmdr. Davis was attempting to recover the plane so that he could land it. Which is making a little more sense do to the fact that he was a good pilot and apparently never had difficulty with blacking out.

thats gotta be won of the worst moments in the life of the other blues that were flying that day. the probably didnt witness the creash. they probably didnt know that they had lost somebody until he stopped responding on the radio. absolutely terrifying

Well, I feel really stupid. I didn't hear the news about the crash and death of the aviator. How sad. My family loves the Blue Angels (obviously). They're amazing. This footage is pretty good, even though it's short. I'm glad I didn't see the crash. I don't do dirty laundry.

A report was released on 15 January 2008, ending the investigation by the Navy into the crash. The report states that when Commander Davis pulled back into a 6.8 G pull, he lost control of the airplane due to the effect of blackout.
