Damian Lewis' new movie-KEANE

New York City. It's been six months since his six-year-old daughter was purportedly abducted in the Port Authority Bus Terminal while in his care, and William Keane (Damian Lewis) is barely able to cope. Repeatedly drawn to the site of the abduction, Keane wanders the bus station compulsively going over the events of that fateful day. Veering between days of relentless searching and nights of alcohol and drug induced extremes of self-destructive behaviour; he struggles to maintain his sanity.

Then one day he meets a financially strapped young woman, Lynn Bedik (Amy Ryan), and her seven-year-old daughter, Kira (Abigail Breslin), who are also staying at the same transient motel in New Jersey. He reaches out to them and soon the mother entrusts him to pick up Kira after school and bring her home. As he becomes increasingly attached to the child, Keane starts to deal with his own feelings of loss and redemption and attempts to fill the void left by his daughter's disappearance.

I am not able to understand why this man is not a movie star yet. He would have been white hot in the late '60s and '70s - the golden era of intelligent, extremely cool cinema.

This has to be the saddest movie I've ever seen. I've never felt so sorry for a character. I nearly teared up about 3 times which never happens to me.

That 1st minute after the title screen makes this movie for me...simply breathtaking.

I really love Damian Lewis' work. He is an amazing actor and can play so many different roles. I hope he does a lot more in the future.

@jemimakahn i totally agree but hey, movie "stars" arent exactly hot shit these days.. tom sizemore is a movie star and he has the range of wet napkin.. i respect the hell out of damian lewis because he is a great actor ( plus you know.. he's very sexy ;). fame and respect don't go hand in hand anymore these days..

Damian Lewis is an Awesome Actor, don;t know about anyone else, but If I had to pick the next actor to play 'The Doctor; in Doctor Who, it'd be him, hand's down!

@Cmet332 to my knowledge, he took the girl without permission to the subway and wanted to basically take her, but then he told her to get candy bars. the reason why he told her to get candy is because he told his daughter to get candy and then someone abducted her. he basically was going crazy and wanted to see if the abductor was going to steal the other girl. but then he realized that he was wrong in thinking about stealing her. so he decided to take her back to her mother. i sound confusing.
