  • If you wanted an action packed movie you should of watched transformers. I just saw the movie, and I found it one of those movies that shows the ugly reality of things. It leaves you angry at the end because you're sort of holding the reality of the situation.

  • @mm89f I absolutely hate the Transformer franchise. They're stupid movies that insult a viewers intelligence at every turn. On the other hand I thought this movie was just too long and boring. I saw it in preview a few years back but I'm willing to try seeing it again on TV because I have a feeling it may play better there.

  • Mr. Renieves should have directed this movie. PERIOD. Good review, simple and plain -- but for some reason i enjoy your educated criticism.

  • I wouldn't be presumptuous to even think I can direct any film...let alone a big budget film like this one, it's just my opinion. But thanks for the kind words.

  • man i felt bad for damons character,, thats just how those skull dudes are no emotion, but hte care about their country and they know lots of weird stuff..

  • Jolie is underrated as an ACTRESS. She is overrated in the tabloid media. She was great in Girl Interrupted, Gia, George Wallace, Playing By Heart, Pushing Tin, Hackers, The Fever, The Bone Collector, A Mighty Heart, AND THE GOOD SHEPHERD. She was one of my highlights of the film. She is already getting more Oscar Buzz for Clint Eastwood's Changeling.

  • good review. i enjoyed the good shepherd, i agree it was too long though.

  • But it is his fault that he made a boring unfocused film. Film is subjective...you liked it and that's cool. I didn't.

  • Open your mind a little and enjoy a great movie. It's not De Niro's fault if the American attention span has been stunted by the mass media.

  • Look --if you want a 120 min formula film, fine! There are plenty of those cranked out by hollywood and the plots points are right where they are supposed to be: 30 mins, 45 mins, 60 mins, 75 mins, 90 mins et al. But --if you are willing to open your mind, you will find in The Good Shepherd one of the best scripts of the last decade. It's also beautifully filmed, brilliantly acted, and gripping!

  • I was disappointed when I saw this movie. You were right on the mark when you said it was very slow, with no real focus. De Niro would have been better off if he just made a movie on the life of James Jesus Angleton, not the history of an organisation with a character that was loosley based on him.
