Greek Dance - Kallinitiko & Malevisioti - Glasgow Hellenic

From the 1st Annual Festival of Hellenic Arts in London (2008) This video shows:

Dance group: Glasgow Hellenic Dancers www.glasgowhellenic.com

Dances: Kallinitiko followed by Malevisioti

Costumes: The boys' costumes are traditional Cypriot. The girls' costumes however had to be made to suit the performance and so are largely improvised from whatever materials could be bought and are not fully authentic.

The Group is made up from young members of the Greek Community of Glasgow, who have a passion for the cultural aspects of their Greek and Cypriot heritages.

Having performed at many cultural and multicultural festivals and events over the past 5 years, the group was asked to perform at the festival as part of the cultural dances section, and prepared 4 dances from the Islands. This video shows the last half of the performance, including the Kallinitiko and Cretan Malevisioti Dances.
