Shunubujo 取納奉行

The Shunubujo was a kind of tax inspector from the time of the Ryukyu Kingdom. This song tells of his visit to Tsuken Island, how he requests entertainment for the evening, how the villagers try to collect together appropriate clothing and of the gifts that the women, who entertain him, receive.

While the subject is quite serious, about people in positions of authority taking advantage of that position, the story is told in a light-hearted and humorous way.

@dancintuba Thank you. I lived in Okinawa for 6 years but now live in the U.K. I started learning the sanshin about a year and a half before I returned to the U.K. and absolutely love it!
